Squash queen Datuk Nicol Ann David leads the nominations for Athlete of the Year award for this year’s SAM-100PLUS Awards following the official announcement that was made today.
Datuk Nicol, who grabbed her eighth world title last year, is leading the pack which also includes bodybuilder Sazali Abdul Samad, who had won the title as the Athlete of the Year in 2014.
Sazali had also picked up his tenth Mr. Universe crown last year.
Others in the shortlist are Zaqhwan Zaidi, who won the overall Asian crown in the Supersports 600cc, Commonwealth Games gold medal winning weightlifter Mohd Hafifi Mansor as well as karate-do Lim Chee Wei, who had won the Kata gold at the Asian Games in Incheon.
The SAM-100PLUS Awards this year will be held on 18 March 2015 at PJ Hilton.
