Philippines hope of making the final of the 2018 Bangabandhu Cup was dashed when they fell to a 2-0 loss to Tajikistan last night at the Cox’s Bazaar Stadium.

The Philippines, who are using the 2018 Bangabandhu Cup as part of their preparation for the AFF Suzuki Cup next month, had cruised through the group stage when they won their two against ASEAN neighbour Laos (3-1) and also hosts Bangladesh (1-0).

But in the semi-finals, Tajikistan proved to be tough customers as they snuck in two goals through Komron Tusurov in the 31st minute and then Akhtam Nazarov (90th).
