Miguel Rodrigo has announced his retirement not only from his post as the head coach of the Thailand Futsal national team but also from high-level Futsal coaching.
This came shortly after the Spanish tactician fell short in delivering the SEA Games 2025 gold medal in Men’s Futsal.
“The SEA Games match was my last match (against Indonesia in the final) as a professional Futsal coach. It was a very special day as it was the permanent farewell to my coaching career in the country that I love with all my heart and will always be in my heart,” said Rodrigo.
“Unfortunately, I couldn’t leave it with a victory to make everybody happy. However, over the past two years, we have reached the final of the Asian Cup and finished 9th in the world in World Cup battles. So, I am very happy with this great achievement.
“The reason for leaving my Futsal career is very clear, that I had to return to Spain to start a new phase of my life and take care of my family, which is the most important.
“I will no longer take charge of a team at the professional level, be it club or national team. My game is over.”
