Malaysian Super Series Cars Round 5

SEPANG – The sweet taste of victory in the previous round of the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) Cars has left Chris Tan and Alan Wong hungry for more success in this weekend’s Round 5 at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC). They will be eager to top the podium again and finish the final race of the season on a high.

Powered by their Honda Civic FD, Chris and Alan, however, will come under intense pressure from their other rivals, especially championship leaders Damien Dielenberg and Tommy Lee, who were not classified in the previous round.

Damien and Tommy, from comfortably lead the championship with a total of 95 points, a distance from second-placed Tony Teo who has amassed 75 points from four rounds. Chris-Alan are third overall with 71 points.

The Damien-Tommy partnership, powered by a Honda Integra DC5, has been dominant this year. After a second placing in the opening race of the season, they went on to win the next three successive races. All they need to seal the title now is a decent finish in Sunday’s race.

There is a mathematical chance for Chris-Alan to win the championship, but this will mean Damien-Tommy must fail to win any points again. “Realistically, we are fighting for second place with Tony who is four points ahead of us. There is a chance for the championship, but for this to happen, we will have to win the race and the leaders do not collect any points,” said Chris today.

“It would be great to repeat the win again this week. It’s the last race of the season and it would be a good to finish on a high.” Asked if his team had done any special preparations ahead of the weekend, Chris said: “No, nothing special, all we did was to fine tune the suspension.”

Meanwhile, other exciting races which will be featured tomorrow and Sunday include the MSS MTC, MSS GT, Asia Classic Car Challenge, Asia Cup Series and the Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Asia.

Free practice and qualifying sessions will be held tomorrow with more action taking place on Sunday.

The good news for fans is that entrance to the Main Grandstand is free. Paddock passes will be sold at RM80.00 each. Fans can also purchase Paddock Season Cards with an introductory price of RM160.00 to enjoy the Malaysian Super Series (MSS) Cars, Malaysian Super Series (MSS) Bikes andSepang 1000km.
