A total of seven teams have confirmed their participation for the inaugural Myanmar’s professional women’s football league.

The seven teams are Sports and Physical Education FC, Myawady FC, Gandamar FC, Zwekapin FC, YERO FC, Thitsar Arman and Institute of Sports and Physical Education FC.

“Although it is traditionally more difficult to attract more fans for women’s leagues internationally, the Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) have organised the league in order to help Myanmar’s women footballers, and to help improve the quality of referees,” said U Zaw Zaw, president of the MFF.

KBZ Bank are the main sponsors of the league.

Each team will play 12 games over a 14 week period with all matches to be played at the Aung San Stadium in Yangon.
