The Vietnam Under-23 team came in third in the M-150 Cup when they beat hosts Thailand 2-1 in Buriam, Thailand.

Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong grabbed the opener after just seven minutes with a superb header before doubling the advantage in the 22nd minute with a fine finish from inside the box

Thailand then missed a penalty in the 38th minute when Nattawut Sombatyotha completely muffed his chance.

Two minutes after the restart, Supachok Sarachat pulled a goal back for the hosts to give them a fighting chance to draw the game.

But it was not to be as Vietnam stuck to their guns for the win.

In the final match afterwards, Uzbekistan won the M-150 Cup after beating Japan 4-3 in the penalty shootout.

The score at the end of regulation was 2-2.
