The change in the Johor Government leadership has also brought a change in the leadership of the Johor Hockey Association and the new president is State Executive Councillor Councillor YB Khuzzan Abu Bakar.

YB Khuzzan is in charge of the State Youth, Sports, Culture and Heritage and he was a unanimous choice at the JHA Extra Ordinary Meeting held on Thursday (Oct 11) to replace incumbent Datuk Jais Sarday who has stepped down.

JHA acting president Dato Manjit Majid Abdullah thanked Jais for his contributions to the sport during his tenure as the president of one of the most active sports association in the state of Johor.

“The Sultan of Johor Cup was initiated when Jais helmed JHA. We are grateful for his services and contributions to JHA which have taken hockey to new heights in the state,’ said Manjit.

“There will be no let up in the development of the game and we will work with YB Khuzzan to further improve hockey in Johor.”

The JHA Council’s current term is until 2020 – the year Johor will play host to Sukma (National Games). This is the second time Johor will host the biennial games. The first was in 1992. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
