Malaysia’s third seeds Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean will face India’s fourth seeds Ashwini Ponnappa-N. Sikki Reddy in the women’s doubles final in the USD150,000 Syed Modi International Badminton Championships in Lucknow on Sunday.

In the semi-finals played on Saturday, the Malaysian pair got the better of seconds Della Destiara Haris-Rizki Amelia Pradipta when the Indonesians retired in the second game after Della picked up a left ankle injury after 58 minutes.

The injury to Della also forced the Indonesian pair to withdraw from next week’s Korea Masters.

The score at that stage stood at 21-19, 16-9 in favor of Mei Kuan-Men Yean, who also finished runners-up in the Russian Open in Vladivostok earlier this year.

Ashwini-Sikki Reddy made the final after defeating fifth seeds Ekaterina Bolotova-Alina Davletova of Russia 21-18, 21-16.

The men’s singles final will be between India’s Sameer Verma, seeded third, who beat Indonesia’s Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo 21-13, 17-21, 21-8. He will face China’s Lu Guangzu for the title after the Chinese sixth seed won 10-21, 21-16, 21-17 against Thailand Sitthikom Thammasin.
