# ‘I have beaten him before and I can beat again in the Malaysia Open’ – Chong Wei

Malaysia’s top shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei returned from New Delhi on Saturday and on Sunday he was training at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam for the USD550 Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open Superseries Premier.

He trained with other national shuttlers “to get a feel of the stadium environment” including national champion Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin and even Malaysia’s No 1 woman shuttler Tee Jing Yi.

At the end of the training session Chong Wei was a man of few words and refused to say much of his second round defeat to Hong Kong’s Wei Nan in the Yonex Sunrise India Open in New Delhi. Chong Wei lost 21-19, 21-19.

The defeat came in the wake of his shock first round defeat to India’s B. Sai Praneeth in the Yonex All-England Open Superseries in Birmingham early last month.

Chong Wei, will get his chance for a quick revenge over Wei Nan in the Malaysia Open as he is his first round opponent in the bottom half of the draw. The Malaysian ace is seeded No 2 with China’s World No 1 as the top seed.

“There s nothing much to say on the defeat,” said Chong Wei.

“Wei Nan played well that day. We cross paths again in the Malaysia Open. I will just go out and give my best. I have beaten him before and now he has beaten me.

“And I believe I can beat him again.”

Wei Nan leads 2-1 in the head to head count. Apart from the win in the India Open the Hong Kong veteran also beat Chong Wei in last year’s Denmark Open. Chong Wei beat Wei Nan in the 2014 Singapore Open.

The Malaysia Open at the Malawati Open begins on Tuesday. The qualifying rounds will be held on Monday.
