In accordance with the theme “Reaching Excellence”, the inaugural Tour de Iskandar Johor have been officially launched today at the Auditorium of Dato Jaafar Muhammad Building. The race serves as a platform to develop young riders through competition.

Sanctioned by the International Cycling Union (UCI) as 2.2 category race in the Asia Tour calendar. The 5-stage race is set to take place from 17 to 21 April 2019 covering a total distance of 693 kilometers, exploring all the districts and cities in the state of Johor.

According to YAB Dato’ Osman Bin Sapian, the Chief Minister of Johor Darul Takzim who is also the patron of Tour de Iskandar, the event will definitely be another world-class phenomenon that is capable of making a big and positive impact for the state of Johor and the country through ‘Sports Tourism’, this event will showcase Johor’s main attractions and products to the world through various local and international media covering the race.

The race will attract the best teams from Asia and other continents. 20 teams will be selected, consisting of 10 UCI Continental Circuits division, 7 state or club teams and 3 national teams. Four jerseys and cash prizes totalling RM 84,000.00 is up for grabs.

The race will have over 500 officials from both the public and private sectors covering various fields, work hand in hand to make the event a success. 200,000 spectators are expected along the route as well as the start and finish venues.
