It will be a Sanvinest Sanatech Khanh Hoa-PTT Chonburi Bluewave final of the AFF Futsal Cup 2019 when they easily overcame their opponents in the semi-finals that were played here at Terminal 21 Korat.
Sanvinest from Vietnam whipped MIU FC from Myanmar 6-0 while home team Chonburi whitewashed newcomers Down Town Sport of Cambodia 17-0.
Instead of their usual fast-paced down the flanks game, Samvinest played a more calculative game when they allowed MIU FC to push forward as they absorbed the early pressure.
And after settling down somewhat, Sanvinest pushed forward where after some sustained pressure went one goal up – courtesy of an own goal from MIU’s Pyae Phyo Maung.
The action picked up a gear as MIU continued to be frustrated with the excellent work of Sanvinest goalkeeper Mai Thanh Dat.
And in the 15th minute, Sanvinest doubled their lead with the pacey Nguyen Thanh Hung scoring twice in five minutes (15th and 20th) for them to take a 3-0 lead at the half.
The second half continued much in the same way as the first with MIU just unable to find their way through while Sanvinest took their time to slot in the goals.
Sanvinest Mai Thanh Dat became the first goalkeeper this year to score when his shot came off the cross to bounce off MIU keeper Yan Paing Hein in the 27th minute.
They then completed the rout with two more goals off Tran Van Thanh in the 34th minute and then Tran Minh Tuan right at the end as MIU’s hope of finishing better than the third spot met with disappointment.
“The plan was to be patient and get them in the counter attack,” said Sanvinest head coach Prasert Innui after the game. “We also know that they like to play the aerial balls which we managed to cut. So now we are looking forward to playing Chonburi again (as they had previously met in the group. We have to be better obviously.”
On the other hand, Chonburi Bluewave showed their pedigree with a 17-0 beating of Down Town Sport to make their first ever final appearance.
The side form Cambodia tried to make a game of their semi-final tie against the former Asian champions but there were just too many individual qualities for them to repress.
And in the end, international striker Suphawut Thuenklang came away with a personal best of five goals when he found the back of the net in the 20th, 27th, 31st, 34th and 34th minute.
The other goals for Chonburi were scored by Tiago Selbach (5th, 15th and 16th minute), Nawin Rattanawongswas (19th and 37th), Jirawat Sornwichian (3rd), Ronnachai Jungwongsuk (7th), Panya Aranpoowanart (17th) and an own goal from Down Town’s Tong Chanmony (11th).
“There is no disrespect to Down Town,” said Chonburi head coach Rakphol Sainetngam. “I told the players that we need to respect all our opponents and that is why we played hard. We treat all matches with respect. And tomorrow we will play Sanvinest again. We have to play like how we have done today and also in the group match.”
