The annual urban fitness challenge, Test of Will, returns for its third edition on 14 and 15 April 2018 at Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall. Organised by high performance sportswear label Under Armour, the event sets out to celebrate human performance through intense functional training challenges for the most determined athletes, goal-getters and fitness aspirants.

Under Armourā€™s ultimate fitness challenge will be championing the will and vigour of Malaysians. The highlight of this yearā€™s Test of Will challenge includes the introduction of age categories to level the playing field (18-34 years, 35-44 years, and 45+ years). Most significant is that the minimum age to qualify is now 18 years, extending opportunities for more young fitness enthusiasts to put their will to the test.Ā

Dialling up the intensity from last year, 2018 participants will compete in an all new four-minute circuit challenge ā€“ Over and Under (Hurdle), Deadball Squats, Kettlebell Farmer Walks and Bear Crawls ā€“ that will test their strength, endurance and power. Each competitor will be scored based on the maximum number of correct repetitions they can achieve within 60 seconds.

The Top 3 male and female athletes in each category will receive a limited-edition Test of Will 2018 medal. This yearā€™s Malaysia Test of Will champions (male and female) who achieve the highest overall score will walk away with a cash prize of MYR3,888 each.

ā€œThe Test of Will challenge continues to exemplify the raw determination and discipline to train and compete,ā€ said Yvonne Tey, Marketing Director, UA Sports (SEA) Pte Ltd, exclusive distributor of Under Armour in Southeast Asia. ā€œIn 2017, we brought together close to 2,000 athletes across our six South-East Asian countries. We believe that sports can inspire and unite the world and look forward to inspiring Malaysians to come together to show their will.ā€

Under Armour has also recently launched its latest training apparel and footwear collections engineered with its signature Threadborneā„¢ technology leading up to the Malaysia heats; to equip participants with the gear to train and compete at the highest level. The Threadborneā„¢ Vanish collection is made from fabric that is light, breathable, anti-cling, quick-drying and provides a high-level of stretch and recovery.

ā€œThrough this new collection for men and women, Under Armour wants to give athletes everything they need for maximum performance,ā€ said Tey. ā€œWe have designed a next-level baselayer that infuses our Microthread fabric to give our athletes better stretch and recovery as well as a fast-drying fabric that offers flexibility and allows for a perfect fit.ā€

Overall male and female winners of Test of Will 2017, Michael Mogard and Jemima Djatmiko, shared the following advice for this yearā€™s challengers:

ā€œIf youā€™re in it to win it, your routine needs to be intense and specific, from your workout to your diet. While the key is to go in with a plan, you donā€™t have to do it alone. When I faced tough challenges last year, members of my gym helped keep me going,ā€ said Mogard, three-time winner of a major fitness challenge in Asia and fitness coach.

ā€œMost important of all is your determination to push yourself. As I was competing in the finals in 2017, I was still recovering from a sprained ankle from a few weeks prior and had to strive harder to stay on top and come out strong,ā€ said Djatmiko, fitness coach and business owner.

Participants are encouraged to study the training guide for specific movement standards and tips to maximise their performance. For more information on the Test of Will 2018, please visit https://www.testofwill.com/.
