Singapore might consider themselves as the ‘underdogs’ for their clash against the Philippines tomorrow night but head coach Fandi Ahmad said they will not make things easy for the hosts.

Speaking at the pre match press conference this morning, Fandi said that playing away meant that they will have to change the way they approach the game especially when the Philippines are ranked much higher than them.

“Philippines have different quality, different players and as such we have to change the way we play,” said the former international.

“We will chase for everything. We have to upset their rhythm and get the three points. We are changing the mindset of the players. We have to defend and attack as a team.”

Singapore opened their campaign in Group B of the AFF Suzuki Cup this year with a 1-0 win over Indonesia at the National Stadium – a result which would have given Fandi some breathing space.

But their next game in the group will be testing as they faced a confident Philippines side that had just signed world renowned Sven Goran Eriksson as their new boss.

“They have a very good coach in Eriksson. But for us, we have to approach the game more of a collective effort,” added Fandi.

“We have more committed players to get into the next round and I think that we are solid as team.”
