Three-time world track champion Jack Bobridge will leave Australian team Orica-GreenEdge at the end of the season to join Trek, the American outfit said in a statement.

The 26-year-old Australian timetrial specialist will continue to compete on the track as well as target races against the clock.

“For Trek to give me another go at the WorldTour and race the big races in Europe, that’s just fantastic,” said Bobridge.

“I’m excited to be able to do that again and I’m very motivated to try my best and have some good results.”

Bobridge was part of the Australian squad that took team pursuit silver at the London Olympics in 2012 behind hosts Britain.

He has won two world titles in the team pursuit and one in the individual pursuit.

He took silver in the individual pursuit earlier this year at the world championships in Saint Quentin en Yvelines, just outside Paris, as well as bronze in the team pursuit.

His greatest success on the road was winning a stage of the Eneco Tour in 2010 and the Tour Down Under earlier this year. – Agence France-Presse
