Malaysia has two women’s doubles pairs in the USD750,000 French Open when Chow Mei Kuan-Lee Meng Yean cleared their first hurdle with an easy 21-10, 21-15 win over the scratch pair of Nadia Fankhauser (Switzerland) and Iris Tabeling (Nederlands) in Paris on Wednesday.

They join compatriots Vivian Hoo-Yap Cheng Wen who advanced to the second round after defeating Ariel Lee-Sydney Lee of the United States on Tuesday and will face fourth seeds Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan of China.

Mei Kuan-Meng Yean’s second-round opponents are Hsu Ya Ching-Hu Ling Fang of Chinese Taipei.

In the men’s doubles, All-England runners-up Aaron Chia-Soh Woo Yik made the second round with a straight games 21-17, 21-15 win over Koreans Choi Solgyu-Seo Seung Jae and will take on Denmark’s Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen for a place in the quarter-finals.

The Dane upstaged Japanese eighth seeds Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi 22-20, 21-14 in their first-round match.RIZAL ABDULLAH
