# Malaysia ace falls to India Prannoy in the second round

Malaysia’s former world No 1 Lee Chong Wei is out of the Danisa Denmark Open Superseries when he fell to a three-game defeat at the hands of India’s H.S. Prannoy in the second round.
 
The 35-year-old Malaysian who celebrates his birthday on Saturday toiled for 63 minutes in Odense but could not get past the 26-year-old Indian shuttler who won 21-17, 11-21, 21-19 – on a day when the mixed doubles pair of Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie made the quarter-finals.
 
Soon Huat-Shevon Lai upset China’s Wang Yilyu-Huang Dongping also in a three-game thriller to prevail 21-14, 16-21, 21-18 in 62 minutes. It was the first win for the Malaysian pair over the Chinese who were seeded sixth in Odense.
 
In the quarter-finals on Friday the Malaysians will face homesters Niclas Nohr-Sara Thygesen.
 
This is Chong Wei’s second defeat to Prannoy, having lost 10-21, 18-21 to the Indian in the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier in Jakarta in June.
 
Chong Wei made a winning start in Odense when he waltzed past Pablo Aiman of Spain 21-12, 21-16 in the first round on Wednesday.  BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
