Live World Touring Car Championship action reaches 6.8 million households in Japan
J SPORTS adds live coverage of Qualifying and WTCC MAC3 to existing package

J SPORTS will increase its commitment to the FIA World Touring Car Championship by broadcasting Qualifying and the Manufacturers Against the Clock team trial live from WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan on Sunday.
The channel for motorsport in Japan, which reaches 6.8 million households in the country, is broadcasting all 20 WTCC races live this season and will also show the Opening Race and Main Race as they happen from Twin Ring Motegi on J SPORTS 3.
However, such has been the success of its live commitment to the WTCC in 2017, J SPORTS is adding live coverage of Qualifying and WTCC MAC3 for its home event when the front-running factory Honda team and its Japanese driver Ryo Michigami will be going all-out for on-track glory.
“J SPORTS is the channel for motorsport in Japan and has done a really good job in making the WTCC even more popular with its live coverage of the races this season,” said Michigami. “By showing qualifying and WTCC MAC3 live, fans will get more opportunity to enjoy the track action and gain a further insight into this spectacular form of motorsport.”
François Ribeiro, Head of Eurosport Events, the WTCC promoter, added: “The WTCC has clearly been a big success for J SPORTS and that’s reflected by its extra live commitment for WTCC Race of Japan at Twin Ring Motegi, which always delivers plenty of action and overtaking.”
As well as its live output, J SPORTS will replay the races next week and viewers are advised to check local listings for details.
Meanwhile, this year’s WTCC JVCKENWOOD Race of Japan will run to a revised timetable after recent typhoons between China – venue of the latest round of the World Touring Car Championship – and Japan caused significant delay to vessel routings and operations in the area. As a result, Free Practice 2, Qualifying, WTCC MAC3, the Opening Race and Main Race will all take place on the same day, Sunday 29 October.
