Chinese Taipei’s Lin Wen-tang believes next month’s CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters presented by Enjoy Jakarta Golf will provide his country’s finest talents with the opportunity to excel on the world stage.

A six-time Asian Tour winner, the 40-year-old has enjoyed a distinguished career on the region’s premier Tour.

He was also in contention at last year’s CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters but had to settle for a tied-fifth finish at the country’s premier golf tournament.

“It’s good to see a lot of younger players coming up from Chinese Taipei. Players like Hung Chien-yao and Chan Shih-chang. I think it’s only a matter of time before they shine on the Asian Tour.

“They are all playing at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters and hopefully by sharing my experiences with them, we can all do well there,” said Lin.

The CIMB Niaga Indonesia Masters will return to the Royale Jakarta Golf Club where former world number one Lee Westwood of England and Denmark’s Thomas Bjorn are expected to provide the fireworks alongside the region’s best players from April 23-26.

Lin, who is no stranger to success having made his name as one of Chinese Taipei’s most successful players, is looking forward to the challenge with renewed vigour.

“Golf is 70% hard work and 30% luck. I remember playing well at that course last year. I was in contention but a pity I couldn’t hang in there to win.

“The Royale Jakarta is a course that suits my game. There are a couple of tricky holes but you stick to your game and stay focused, it’s not difficult to score,” said Lin.

Sanctioned by the Asian Tour and the PGA Tour of Indonesia, the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters Presented by Enjoy Jakarta Golf will feature 24 Indonesian golfers, 20 professionals from the PGA Tour of Indonesia and four of Indonesia’s top amateurs who will compete in the 150 player field over 72 holes of individual stroke play.
