Overnight leader Greg Moss of the United States continues to dominate after carding a one-under-par 71 for a two-shot lead over Australian Jordan Sherratt at the halfway stage of the Charming Yeangder ADT on Friday.

Moss, who opened his campaign with a sensational 62, traded five birdies against four bogeys for an 11-under-par 133 total at the US$150,000 Asian Development Tour (ADT) event, which is the burgeoning Tour’s first stop in Chinese Taipei this season.

Sherratt produced a flawless 68 highlighted by four birdies to move to second place while American Casey O’Toole signed for a 69 to sit in third on 137 at the scenic National Garden Golf and Country Club.

A host of five players, including local duo Lee Chieh-po and Lin Chien-bing, stayed a further shot back in fourth place on 138 while Order of Merit leader Arie Irawan of Malaysia carded a 71 to merely make the halfway cut at the Charming Yeangder ADT.

Moss, who is chasing for a maiden ADT win, is relishing the excitement of being in contention but knows he has to stay grounded and not get ahead of himself.

“I didn’t hold up till the end. I dropped two shots in my last five holes but overall, I played well. I am not too displeased. It’s still good because I am still where I want to be. I kept it going out there,” said Moss.

“It’s nice to be in the lead. I am just trying to see how I respond to it as this is my first time in contention. I have been used to playing around the cut line so it’s good that I am still in the lead. It’s nice when people is paying attention,” added the 28-year-old American.

Moss also hopes to bank on the encouragement which he received from his friends and family overnight to keep up his motivation for the remaining rounds.

“I am obviously hoping to push for a maiden ADT win but I’m still a long way to that. I gave up some ground today and I’m sure the guys are going to shoot some low scores. Hopefully I can just keep doing what I have been doing. I received a lot of great support, especially overnight. I’ve come a long way from home so it’s nice to hear something nice from them,” Moss said.

Sherratt, who started from the 10th hole, endured a slow start to the round but bounced back brilliantly with three birdies on his way home.

“I didn’t get off to a very good start actually. I started to feel a little bit better after the turn and managed to grab a couple more birdies on my way home. The turning point came on the fourth hole where I hit a really good shot onto the green to about six feet for birdie. That got my game going and I went on to birdie the next hole and the 7th hole,” said the 27-year-old Australian.

O’toole, who capped three consecutive top-10s on the ADT prior to this week, knows he had to stay patient should he wish to continue his good run of form.

“I played solid today. I kept the ball in front of me and kept it in play. I knew I had to stay patient out there, given the rainy conditions this morning. It was kind of slow out there too so I just try to relax and enjoy the game,” said O’toole, who is playing in his second year on the ADT.

“I will stay patient and will see how it goes tomorrow. My game has been in a good shape so far this season and I hope I can maintain the good form,” added the 24-year-old American.

A total of 53 players made the halfway cut which was set at even-par 144.

The winner of the Charming Yeangder ADT will take home a winner’s prize purse of US$26,250 and receive six Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) points.

The ADT will reward the top-five finishers on the Order of Merit at the end of this season with Asian Tour cards for 2016.

With the Olympic Games looming in 2016 where golf will be reintroduced as a medal sport, players in the region could earn their spots in Rio de Janeiro by earning Official World Golf Ranking points through the Asian Tour and ADT.
