# Malaysians flop in the semi

By Rizal Abdullah

Inconsistent. Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong once again showed their weaker side as they were bundled out in the semi-finals in the USD300,000 Yonex Sunrise Indian Open Superseries in New Delhi on Saturday.

The Malaysian’s were going great guns in the India Open but their winning run was halted by Indonesia’s Gideon Markus Fernaldi-Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo who won 21-15, 21-17 in 35 minutes to deny the Malaysians their first ever Superseries final.

It will be an all-Indonesia men’s doubles final when seventh seeds Angga Pratama-Ricky Karanda Suwardi defeated fifth seeds Ko Sung-hyun-Shin Baek-cheol 21-18, 6-21, 21-19 in the other semi-final.

It was a bad day for V Shem-Wee Kiong – the Commonwealth Games champions. V Shem-Wee Kiong were not only not focused in their match but Wee Kiong was even yellow carded following an exchange of words with Kevin and this affected their composure.

There was great hope of the Malaysian pair reaching the final but V Shem-Wee Kiong blew it when it mattered most.

They now switch their focus to the Celcom-Axiata Malaysia Open Superseries Premier which begins at the Malawati Stadium in Shah Alam on Tuesday.
