Philippines and Indonesia kicked off to a good start in the RSGC AmBank Junior Amateur Open Golf Championship 2015 by dominating three out of four categories at the  Royal Selangor Golf Club (RSGC).

In the Boys U-18 category, Kevin Akbar from Indonesia shoot a 72 to lie two shots ahead Kim Tae Woo of Kelab Golf Perkhidmatan Awam (KGPA) on 74 with national junior V. Khavish Varman a stroke behind Kim.

Khavish said, “I played well but had a rough start in the early part of today. The course was in good condition this year, so I am hoping to play better and improve my score tomorrow. The main thing is to have fun and I believe the good scores will come in.”

SEA Games and defending champion Princess Superal from Philippines made a slow start to her title defence of the Girls U-18 category with a 73 to lie in third place and two shots off the leader and compatriot, Abegail Arevalo. National junior Loy Hee Ying is in second place with a 72 to stay in touching distance.

The U-15 Girls defending champion Sofia Chabon of Philippines shot a one under par 71 to make a superb start with second place Rivani Adelia of Indonesia on 74 and Geraldine Wong from Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Resort (BJGC) on 75.

Adam Madzri from KGPA ensured at least one category where Malaysia made its presence felt with a 72 score to lead the Boys U-15 category with the Johor duo  of Irfan Norshah from Starhill Golf Resort Johor (SGRJ) and Lee Chong Li from Johor Golf & Country Club (JGCC) trailing by three and five strokes respectively.

A total of 99 golfers are participating in this tournament and the foreign countries taking part are Indonesia and Philippines. The champions in each category will win trophies and medals.
