Quang Ninh Coal FC made the semi-finals of the Vietnam National Football Cup based on the away-goal rule following their plucky 2-2 draw with Long An in the second-leg, quarter-finals at the Long An Stadium this week.
The first-leg encounter had ended in a 1-1 draw.
At the Long An Stadium, Tai Loc and Tan Tai gave the home team a strong 2-0 lead going into the final quarter of the match.
But the last two minutes would be Long An’s undoing when the visiting Quang Ninh side found the space to poach two quick goals for the 2-2 draw.
In the other quarter-final matches, QNK Quang Nam crushed Hai Phong 3-0 (4-1 on aggregate) to make the next round as Hoang Anh Gia Lai beat Binh Duong 3-1 (8-4 on aggregate).
Hosts Hanoi T&T cruised to a 3-1 win over Nam D?nh at Hanoi’s Hang Day Stadium (3-1 on aggregate).
