National singles coach Datuk Misbun Sidek said that Malaysia will have to re-strategise against Myanmar as they look to inject vigour back into their game and  put their campaign for a place in the Thomas Cup this year back on track.

Hosts Malaysia was served with a rude awakening in their first game in Group C of the E-Plus Badminton Asia Team Championships last night when they were beaten 3-2 by Thailand.

“We will have a team discussion and decide who will play the next game,” said Misbun.

We have our next game against Myanmar and I believe that the team will recover from this loss. We need to be at a better stage of mind before we take on Chinese Taipei later.

Misbun said that against a motivated Thai side, Iskandar (Zulkarnain) was struggling while doubles (Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong) also failed to deliver what was expected.

“The Thais were expected to be a tough side and I’m not blaming anyone for this defeat and where I will take responsibility,” he added.
