THE KL2017 Games organisers have agreed to move the Silat venue from Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) to Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara following discussions with the National Silat Federation of Malaysia (PESAKA).

Dato Seri Zolkples Embong, the CEO of MASOC, said the decision was made to cater to the big crowd as the seatings and space at KLCC were insufficient for fans and spectators.

PESAKA secretary general Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin added that the Juara Stadium can  take in about 3,000 spectators and will host the semi-final and final stages on 28-29 August.
“For the past two days, we have noticed the growing number of fans that at the venue. It was more that what we had expected and there were spectators with tickets who didn’t manage to get a seat due to an overwhelming crowd

“Following discussions with all team managers, we have agreed to relocate to a bigger venue to accommodate as many spectators as we can,” said Megat in a press conference at the MASOC Secretariat Office in Bukit Jalil.

Originally, silat has been scheduled at Hall 2 KLCC. The sports, among the popular combat sports in the Games, offer a total of 20 gold medals.
