Sky Dive Dubai Falcon Racing Team target maximum points

Al Maktoum tops Silver standings and chasing maiden victory

DUBAI, 4 FEBRUARY 2015: Sky Dive Dubai Falcon Racing Team head to Qatar for Round 7 and Round 8 of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East where Sheikh Hasher Al Maktoum and Saeed Al Mehairi aim to extend their lead in the team championship and consolidate themselves at the top of the table in Silver drivers’ standings.

Al Maktoum and Al Mehairi return to Losail International Circuit – the fourth race weekend of the series – confident that they can better their performance of the previous two rounds in January where they walked away with the team prize and Al Mehairi claiming second place in Round 5 and fourth in Round 6, while Al Maktoum bagged a couple of fifth places during the course of the weekend.

Al Maktoum, who has been an example of pure consistency, leads the Silver drivers’ standings with 118 points to his credit and is third in the overall championship standings while Al Mehairi lies second in the Silver category and fifth overall.

The Emirati duo, who are in their second year of the series thanks to backing from Sky Dive Dubai, make no secret of the fact that they are targeting top honours in the team championship as payback for their sponsors who have made their campaign in the region’s premier motor racing series possible.

Speaking ahead of the weekend in Doha, Al Maktoum said: “Our goal this season is to win the team title for Sky Dive Dubai and our partners, and for now things are going well. But this can all change and we must focus on being consistent and this in turn will deliver the results. Of course our goal is always victory whenever we race.”

Al Maktoum has come close but has yet to score a win in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, while teammate Al Mehairi tasted victory on his home track Dubai Autodrome in December and is itching for a repeat.

Al Mehairi said: “Of course the home win in Dubai was a big boost for me, but that is now in the past. I focus on the next race and of course I want that feeling of winning again. We are up against a very strong field of drivers and we must deliver 100% every time. It’s tough but that is the challenge of this series, where our goal is always to win.”

Team manager Hadi Al Bloushi added: “We have a plan for our return to Qatar, and it’s quite simple as we are targeting the podium with both drivers in both races. And of course the big prize would be victory which is something we always strive for.”

“We are inspired to deliver because we represent one of the UAE’s most recognised brands, namely Sky Dive Dubai who have made this project possible, along with our partners TAG Heuer and Corthay. I know our drivers want to make them proud,” added Bloushi.
