Song Lam Nghe An (SLNA) fell to a 1-0 loss at home to Sanna Khanh Hoa in the second match of the V.League 2018.
Despite creating a handful of chances and having the lion share of the possession, SLNA just could not break down the stubborn Khanh Hoa defence.
SLNA imports Olaha Michael Onyedikachi and Osmar Francisco were also firing blanks as they could not get the better of Khanh Hoa keeper Nguyen Tuan Manh.
The only goal of the game came just before the break when Toure Youssouf set it up for Lam Ti Phong.
âI am happy because we earned three points from this seasonâs opening match. We did not play well and could not control first halfâs happenings. But my players caught up with the pace, especially (Lam Ti) Phong,â said Khanh Hoa head coach Vo Dinh Tan.
âCounter-attack helped us to take full advantage of SĂ´ng Lam Nghe Anâs only mistake.â
Elsewhere, FLC Thanh Hoa beat HCM City FC 1-0 (main pix) with the only goal of the match coming in the 70th minute through substitute Hoang Dinh Tung.
Quang Ninh Coal edged Sai Gon FC 2-1 as Hoang Anh Gia Lai drew 1-1 with Hai Phong 1-1 at the Lach Tray Stadium while former champions Ha Noi FC defeated Can Tho 2-0 while Becamex Binh Duong beat Nam Dinh 2-1 at Go Dau Stadium.
