Former Thailand national police chief Pol Gen Somyot Poompunmuang was elected as the new president of the FA of Thailand (FAT) at the electoral that was held in the capital city.

In a landslide decision, Somyot won 62 votes, beating former national team coach Chanvit Pholcheewin and Bangkok FC chairman Natthapol Teepsuwan who came second and third.

Chanvit received only four votes while Natthapol got one vote.

Sixty-eight FAT members exercised their voting right with one abstention.
