The Indonesian women’s football team is making steady progress ahead of their participation in the AFF Women’s Championship in Chonburi, Thailand next month.

After three friendly matches, the women’s team recorded one win and two losses – a 6-2 win over Putri DIY (women’s team) and then two losses against Astara Sleman Putra U-15 (boys’ team) 8-0 and then 3-1.

“After two or three weeks of training, we are making good progress in preparation for the AFF Women’s Championship,” said midfielder Ade Mustikiana Oktaviani.

“We won the first game against a women’s team while the last two games were against boys. We lost the first game to Sleman 8-0 but we improved to 3-1 in the second match.”

The team under Rullly Nere will continue to play friendlies before their departure to Thailand where they will play against Baturetno Bantul Putra U15 boys and also Raga Putra Menoreh Kulon Progo U15 boys.

For the AFF Women’s Championship, Indonesia have been placed in Group B against Myanmar, Vietnam and Cambodia. 

Group A are hosts Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Timor Leste.
