# Imran wins Under-10 World Junior Masters title

 

His name is Imran Daniel Abdul Hazli is only 10 but the way he hammered his opponent in the final to win the Under-10 World Juniors Masters in Antalya, Turkey on Sunday has sent ripples in the world of tennis.

Son of former international Abdul Hazli Zainuddin, outplayed his Dutch opponent Manvydas Balciunas 6-0, 6-0 to win the world title much to the delight of his father who is also his coach.

This is the second international title for Imran after winning the Base 11 and under Stars of Tomorrow tennis tournament in Germany where he was a  “class of his own” in his age category.

On his way to the world title, Imran, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, was in terrific form in his earlier matches, where he dropped only one game.

He beat Karim Fendri (Tunisia), 6-0, 6-1, followed by a 6-0, 6-0 demolition of Scotland’s Hector Edmund Fullone and  then another 6-0, 6-0 drubbing of Latvia’s Maksims Kazancevs to reach the semi-finals.

It was a tougher match against Tunisia’s Omar Knani for a place in the final but the young Malaysian prevailed with a 6-3, 6-2 win.

Imran’s performance has certainly caught the eye of many and has made many sit up and take note of Imran.

However, Imran will have mountains to scale and take a long winding road to stardom.

According to Abdul Hazli he is already working on his fitness and this has taken his game to a higher level.
