Felda United shot to the top of the Super League standings after a 4-1 win over Terengganu in Monday’s only Super League match played at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.

However, defending champions Johor Darul Takzim could regain the lead if they beat Perak at the Larkin Stadium on Tuesday.

Felda were in fiery mood at the home of the Turtles despite falling behind in the 25th minute when international Joseph Kalang Tie found the net. Joseph had come off the match in the 2nd minute when Shahrin Sapien was stretchered out with injury.

The setback was not a bother for The Fighters who were quick to equalise three minutes and it was a glorious return for former international Christie Jayaseelan to competitive football from a long layoff from injury to make it all square.

The heat was on and Felda were gifted a 2-1 lead – thanks to an own goal by Terengganu defender Yong Kuong Yong. The former Penang player turned the ball into his own net leaving goalkeeper Sharbinee Allawee well beaten.

It was 3-1 on 71 minutes with a solo effort by Zah Rahan Krangar before Liberian international Francis Forkey Doe completed the rout in the 78th minute.

Meanwhile in the 100PLUS Premier League it was heartache for Selangor outfit PKNS FC who surrendered a 3-0 lead at halftime to share points with JDT II at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca.

In fact PKNS were lucky to have escaped defeat – thanks to Paulo Rangel who muffed a penalty late in the match.

Two goals by Palestine international Matias Hadwa in the 17th and 28th minutes and an own goal by JDT’s Dominic Tan deep in injury time before the break gave PKNS a healthy lead.

But a disastrous collapse by the PKNS defeat saw JDT stage a fightback that left E. Elavarasan’s players shell shocked as a brace by Shafiq Baharuddin and skipper, Singapore international Shahril Ishak in a three minute spell which began in the 69th minute nearly ended in a disaster.

Negri Sembilan continued with their revival and confidence when they hammered Sime Darby 4-0 at the Selayang Stadium.

Francis George headed in two goals from corner kick set pieces in the 12th and 22nd minutes gave paved the way for the big win. Joel Chianese was also in terrific form and ended the night with a brace.
