YEAP Wai Kin bagged his second and Malaysia’s fourth gold medal in the ?SEA Games wushu competition, once again leaving his far more illustrious teammate Wong Weng Son for the silver at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Wai Kin accumulated 9.68 points to upset Weng Son – the 2016 Asian Championships and World Cup gold medallist the men’s qiangshu event.

Weng Son garnered 9.65 points whilst Indonesia’s Muhammad Daffa Golden Boy claimed the bronze with 9.63 points.

Malaysian exponents concluded Monday’s competition with a haul of one gold, two silvers and three bronze medals. On Sunday Yeap Wai Kin delivered the first in the men’s Jianshu (sword) event with a score of 9.67 points while Loh Jack Chang and Diana Bong contributed a gold each in the men’s men’s taijijian (taiji sword) and women’s Nanquan.

Another national exponent, Khaw Jun Lim bagged the bronze in the men’s daoshu / gunshu category on Sunday.

Singapore also won the first wushu gold medal on Monday through Jowen Lim in the men’s optional daoshu and gunshu category.

He had recorded a score of 9.69 in daoshu portion for a combined 18.37 total. Indonesia’s Hulaefi Achmand fought his way to a silver medal and Malaysian Khaw Jun Lim picked the bronze.

In the women’s qiangshu competition held on Monday, Vietnam’s Thuy Vi Duong clinched the gold with 9.67 points while Malaysia’s Eyin Phoon and Myanmar’s Sandy Oo took silver and bronze with 9.66 and 9.65 points, respectively.

Indonesia’s Felda Elvira Santosa bagged the women’s Daoshu gold medal (9.67. 0.01 points). Teammate Monica Pransisca Sugianto took second (9.66) and Singaporean Wei Ting Zoe Mui clinched the bronze with a 9.64 score.

Indonesia’s world champion Lindswell scored 9.68 points to claim her fourth SEA Games gold medal in Taijijian – 0.03 points ahead of Agatha Chrystenzen Fernandez Wong from the Philippines (9.65) while Malaysian Audrey Chan Yee Jo took home bronze with 9.64 points.

The men’s Nandao and Nangun event gold medal went to Oo Thein Than from Myanmar with an overall score of 19.34 points. Vietnam’s Pham Quoc Khanh took home silver with an overall score of 19.32 points.

Malaysia picked the third bronze medal through Ho Mun Hua with an overall score of 19.30.

?The last day of the wushu competition on Tuesday will see five gold medals at stake, namely the women’s optinal Nandao and Nangun, men’s Compulsory 3rd Taijiquan, women’s compulsory 3rd taijiquan, men’s optional changquan and women’s optional changquan.
