The National Junior Women’s team finished 5th at the Changzhou Junior Women’s Asia Cup defeating Thailand by 3 goals to 1. Despite their best efforts, Malaysia found themselves wanting in the matches against India and China. The disparity in several key areas of the game were glaring as head coach Lailin Abu Hassan pointed out.

“We have the talent to match the top countries in Asia. We lack strength and exposure, which is what we should work on, moving forward”, Lailin mentioned.

“The President has been very encouraging and we would like to thank him for personally ensuring that the Junior team was provided the support, despite taking over the helm hardly 3 months ago”, he added.

Manager Norfaraha Hashim mentioned in her report that the Junior women played their best game of the tournament yesterday. “Hanis Nadiah Onn and Fatin Shafika Mohd. Sukri were the standouts. They were excellent throughout the match”, Norfaraha, a former Malaysian captain, said.
