Izzat Zaidi Salehan in action in Jempol

Despite having clinched the CP115 title, Motul Yamaha YY Pang has no intention of going easy in the PETRONAS AAM Malaysian Cub Prix Championship season finale as they target their 10th straight victory at Taman Jubli Emas, Alor Setar, Kedah next weekend.

The all-red outfit has been in dominant form this year to score nine straight victories with newly crowned CP115 champion, Mohd Izzat Zaidi Salehan taking five wins while Zaidy Zaifaizal and Tengku Amirul Haffiruddin won two races respectively.

Additionally, their relentless form also earned Motul Yamaha YY Pang the best CP115 team award this season with an unassailable 299 points.

Delighted with his riders’ performance, manager, Pang Yoke You said, “It has been an amazing season. We struggled the past couple of years but never gave up and now we are back on top of the standings and that is a huge achievement for YY Pang. I am proud of all my riders and the entire crew – they did a great job. Now we head into the final round hoping to maintain that perfect run and go out with a bang with our 10th win.”

And ominously for their rivals, YY Pang or better known as ‘Sifu’ in the Cub Prix paddock made clear that his riders are still hungry for the podium following a three week break from the penultimate round in Jempol earlier this month.

“We have had a hectic schedule this season, and the three weeks between Jempol and Alor Setar has given our riders the perfect opportunity to recharge their batteries. Even so, they continue training and make sure that they are ready for the grand finale.”

Talking about his expectations of the championship returning to Alor Setar, Sifu commented, “This is not our first time at Alor Setar but the race will be held at a different venue. I believe this will produce excellent racing because none of the teams have any data so it’s an equal playing field for everyone.”

“As for our team, we’ll need to pay attention from the first practice session and get back into our rhythm as quickly as possible.”
