Guilherme Bissoliâs late penalty salvaged a 1-1 draw for 10-man Buriram United FC against CĂ´ng An HĂ Náťi FC as the title holders claimed a share of the points in a re-run of last seasonâs ASEAN Club Championship Shopee Cup⢠final at Buriram Stadium on Wednesday.
The defending champions trail Group A leaders Tampines Rovers FC by three points after a hat-trick by Japanese forward Hide Higashikawa earned the Singapore Premier League side a 3-2 come-from-behind win over visitors BG Pathum United FC from Thailand.
That victory takes Tampines Rovers to the top of the standings, one point ahead of Selangor FC, who needed a second half goal from Willian Lira to earn a 1-1 draw with DH Cebu FC from the Philippines in Manilaâs Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Bissoli converted from the spot in the 91st minute after Stefan Mauk handled the ball inside the area for the Vietnamese side, who had taken the lead in the 10th minute of the crucial Group A clash through LĂŠo Artur.
Robert Ĺ˝uljâs red card six minutes into the second half added to the difficulty of the task facing the Thai League 1 champions but Bissoliâs cool finish ensured Buriram United remain unbeaten in the competition.
The champions sit on three points from three draws in Group A and are one point behind Mano PĂślkingâs CĂ´ng An HĂ Náťi side with two matches remaining in the group phase.
Tampines Rovers FC lead the standings with six points after a remarkable win over BG Pathum United at Jalan Besar Stadium as the hosts fought back from going two goals down inside the opening 27 minutes.
Tomoyuki Doi gave BG Pathum the lead in the seventh minute and Raniel doubled the advantage 20 minutes later but Higashikawa reduced the deficit in the third minute of first half stoppage time after Shah Shahiran saw his 10th minute penalty saved by Saranon Anuin.
It was Higashikawa who levelled for the home side 16 minutes into the second half when Shuya Yamashita headed the ball into his path and the Japanese forward threaded a low shot through the visiting defence to equalise.
With 12 minutes remaining, Higashikawa completed his hat-trick to put Tampines Rovers in front, hitting a low, right-foot shot from outside the penalty area into the bottom corner to secure his sideâs second win in the competition. It was the second hat-trick of the competition and takes Higashikawaâs tally to five goals.

Cebu, meanwhile, picked up their first point of the 2025/26 Shopee Cup⢠by holding Selangor to a 1-1 draw in Manila.
Rico Andes gave the home side the lead two minutes after the interval before Lira levelled seven minutes later for the visitors, who had gone into the game on top of the group standings.
The result moves Selangor onto five points from three games while Cebu remain bottom of the standings despite collecting their first point of the campaign.
Group B leaders Johor Darul Taâzim FC will take on PKR Svay Rieng FC on Thursday looking for their third win in the group phase as Bangkok United FC host Lion City Sailors FC and Nam Äáťnh FC from Vietnam travel to face Shan United FC in Myanmar.
