The FIM CEV Repsol held a race outside Spain for the second time this year on Sunday, as the Algarve circuit in Portugal hosted the ninth Moto3 event of the season. Adam Norrodin performed a strong comeback that allowed him to add one more point to his tally in the Spanish Championship. Hafiza Rofa has maintained his position and finished in 25th position.

“I am very happy, because I felt great all weekend. The race was tough, because the other riders were also very fast, but in the end we were able to finish in the Top 15 and add another point to our tally. The whole team did a great job and I really appreciate it. For the next race we will keep the same goal, which is to try to score points.” Adam Norrodin.
Following up on his first three points at the Navarra round, Adam Norrodin added another point to his haul at Portimao. The SIC-Ajo Team rider staged a good comeback in order to do so, as he had started from 21st on the grid. The young Malaysian steadily moved up through the field, eventually crossing the line in 15th position. With this result, Adam Norrodin is now 27th in the overall standings of the FIM CEV Repsol with 4 points.

His SIC-Ajo teammate, Hafiza Rofa, was less fortunate. Rofa, who debuted in the World Championship as a wild card last week at the Malaysian Grand Prix, had a great race and was putting in a very fast pace. The Malaysian rider fought for 16th and a place in the points, but crashed two laps from the end and dropped to 25th.

“I sincerely believe that this has been our best weekend of the season. Today I had a very high pace during the race and pushed hard to try to finish in the points. But I made a small mistake with two laps to go and I crashed at Turn 5. Still, I’m very happy with the work done by both myself and the team. In Valencia we will try to push a little more to get our first points of the season.” said Hafiza Rofa.

Frenchman Fabio Quartararo was crowned FIM CEV Repsol champion this weekend. The next round of the Spanish Championship will be held in Valencia, where the last two races of the Moto3 series will be contested. The goal for the SIC-Ajo Team riders will be to try to score further points.
