Former cricketer, Aravinda de Silva, became the first sports legend to visit The Sticky Wicket, anointing it as the first cricket-themed gastropub in Malaysia.

This event was attended by Tunku Tan Sri lmran ibni Almarhum Tuanku Ja’afar, Patron of Malaysian Cricket Association, Mahinda Valipuram, President of Malaysia Cricket Association, Dr. Arun Kumar, Deputy President of Malaysia Cricket Association, Aravinda de Silva, ex Sri Lanka National team batsmen and Abbi Kanthasamy, Owner of The Sticky Wicket.

Aravinda’s high point in this career was winning the 1996 Cricket World Cup in Lahore when they beat Australia in the final.

His worst moment was losing to Australia in a test match.

When asked by Tunku Imran whether cricket should be in the Olympics, Aravinda said “Yes I think so. I think it’s a game that should be spread around the world.”

At the end of the event, Aravinda signed the cricket bat that he used at the 1996 Cricket World Cup.
