Defending champions Yadarnabon slipped down to third in the Myanmar National League 2017 when they fell to a 2-1 loss to title aspirant Yangon United at the latter’s home ground of Yangon United Sports Complex.

In the game which Yadanarbon needed to win to keep in touch with leaders Yangon United, they went all out in the first half and managed to carve out the lead through Si Thu Aung just before the break.

But Yangon were not about to be embarrassed at home as substitute Soe Min Naing headed home the 74th minute cross from Kyaw Ko Ko.

And deed in injury time, defender Zaw Min Tun nodded in the freekick from Ko Ko.

With the three points, Yangon United have picked up 28 points from ten matches played as Yadanarbon slipped down to third with 21 points from the same number of games.

“It was a big game and both teams got chances. In the second half, we changed formation and made some substitutions that gave us a better chance. Although we are half-season champions, we’ll continue to pay attention to each match,” said Yangon United coach U Tin Maung Tun.

With Yadanarbon on the stutter, Shan Untied moved up to second when they beat beating Southern Myanmar 2-0 at the Taunggyi Stadium as Magwe beat Zwekapin United 4-0 and Rakhine United blasting Chin United 3-1.

Nay Pyi Taw and GFA battled to a 2-2 draw while Hantharwady and Ayeyawady were held to a pulsating 3-3 draw.
