Former Vietnam international Le Cong Vinh will take up a new post as deputy chairman of HCM City FC.

“HCM City FC had planned to recruit Cong Vinh to play for the club in the national premier league 2017, but this plan failed because he had decided to retire from competition after finishing the recent AFF Suzuki Cup. After discussions, the club’s leaders invited him to manage the team instead,” said HCM City Football Federation chairman Tran Anh Tu.

Cong Vinh has also confirmed the new development and where it would be officially announced at the club’s send-off ceremony on 5 January.
