BANGKOK (21 May 2018) – A hat-trick from Edgar Bruno da Silva gave Buriram United not only a hard fought 4-2 win on the road over Pattaya United but also a two-point lead over nearest rivals Bangkok United in Thai League One.
Da Silva gave Buriram a 2-0 advantage at the half with goals in the 18th and 42nd minute before completing his hat-trick in the 58th minute.
Pattaya pulled a goal back off Picha U-Tra in the 63rd minute as Diogo then grabbed a fourth for Buriram in the 78th minute.
Jaroensak Vongkorn then nailed Pattaya’s second goal of the night right at the end.
The win helped Buriram to maintain their spot at the top of Thai League One with 38 points from 16 matches played – two points ahead of Bangkok United.
In the meantime defending champions Muang Thong United struggled on sixth at the standings where this week they needed a late strike before they were able to beat Sukothai 4-3 at home.
An own goal from Tristan Do in the 18th minute sets the pace as Sukothai then went on to double their advantage off Njiva Rakotoharimalala four minutes later.
Herberty then went on a hat-trick run with goals in the 34th, 44th and 45th as Jhon Baggio levelled things up at the half with Sukotha’s third on 35 minutes.
It took a late late goal from Adisorn Promrak right at the end to settle scores as Muang Thong stole the full points.
Elsewhere, Chainat beat Prachuap 3-1, Bangkok Glass edged Suphanburi 1-0, Port MTI FC thrashed Navy FC 7-1 and Ratchaburi beat Police Tero 3-2.
Bangkok United and Chonburi were winners away from home with identical 1-0 win over Air Force Central and Nakhon Ratchasima respectively.
Chinagrai were also winners away from home when they whitewashed Ubon 3-0.
