# Zulfadli’s erratic form in international meets continues

Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin marched into the third round in the USD Yonex Dutch Open Grand Prix in Almere 21-14, 21-11 win over England’s Rhys Walker in a late match on Wednesday.

The World No 68 will now face Finland’s Ville Lang who sent former world and Asian junior champion Zulfadli Zulkifli crashing out of the tournament. The Finn battled for 74 before prevailing over the Malaysian privateer with 22-20, 21-23, 21-15 win.

Iskandar is on a training cum playing stint in Europe and his good run has pleased Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) technical director Morten Frost who has high hopes of turning the Malaysian into a world beater.

Apart from winning the Singapore International Series in August, Iskandar also won the Polish Open last month – a tremendous boost to his badminton career.

Former Asian junior champion Soo Teck Zhi kept his winning ways when he upset 10th seed Pablo Aimar of Spain. Teck Zhi toiled for 68 minutes tgo win 21-15, 17-21, 21-14. In the third round Teck Zhi will face Mattias Borg of Sweden.

Goh Soon Huat joined his teammates in round three with a 21-11, 21-14 in 33 minutes over Germany’s Kai Schaefer. Soon Huat next opponent is Lithuania’s Kestutis Navickas.
