Perak thrash Pahang 4-0 in Ipoh to advance 5-4 on aggregate

# Felda United thump PKNP 4-1 at Shah Alam to overturn a 3-1 deficit

It was a night of shocks as Perak and Felda United turned huge deficits in the first-leg with crushing wins in the return-leg Malaysia Cup quarter-final matches on Sunday night to march into the semi-finals.

At the Selayang Stadium it was “birthday boy” Shukor Adan who paved the way for the floodgates to open against Perak SEDC (PKNP) for an emphatic 4-1 win that enabled The Fighters to keep a semi-final date against defending champions Kedah.

Coach B. Satianathan, speaking on TV after the match said: “It was Shukor’s cross that made the difference” for Wan Zack Haikal to open scoring on 28 minutes after “homesters” PKNP increased their advantage to 4-1 on aggregate through an eighth minute goal by Korean Kim Hyeon-woo.

“It took a veteran to show the way how to cross and that was the turning point for us to get the goals,” said the former national coach.

The heat was on after the first goal and Felda increased the tally to 2-1 through Wan Zack (35th) before Idefayo Omosuyi (36th) made it 3-1 (4-4 aggregate).  Zah Rahan Krangar dealt the Premier League outfit the killer blow with the winner minutes after the restart.

For Selangor it was a 30th minute penalty that killed the 33-time champions hopes of an upset in Alor Setar. Brazilian Sandro de Silva netted from the spot for a 1-0 win and a place in the semi-finals 4-3 on aggregate.

Perak were on fire at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh and there was no looking back for Mehmet Durokovic’s team after Gilmar Filho scored a brace for a 2-0 lead on the night to tie the score 3-3 on aggregate.

It was enough for Perak to keep the momentum and two more goals by Kenny Palraj and former JDT player Nazrin Nawi sent the home fans wild in celebrations. The 4-0 upset win over the Elephants gave Perak a place in the last four.

In the semi-finals Perak will have to face mighty Johor Darul Takzim who made it with a 1-1 draw against Melaka to advance 5-2 on aggregate. The Southern Tigers, fielded an under strength side bu were still good enough to take the lead on 20 minutes through Nazmi Faiz Mansor.
