* Thailand defeat Singapore 1-0

 

It will be a Malaysia versus Thailand final in the women’s hockey at the Sengkang Stadium on Friday while hosts Singapore will face Indonesia in the bronze playoff.

Defending champions Malaysia strolled past Indonesia with a 5-1 win under hot and humid conditions which saw coach Nasihin Nubli, a former national goalkeeper from Johor rest some of his key players.

Thailand stunned Singapore 1-0 to finish in second spot with forward Tikhamporn Sakinpithak scoring the winner as early as the ninth minute.

The Malaysia-Indonesia match was a one way traffic for the defending champions who opened scoring after 11 minutes through Noor Hasliza Ali who went on to score a brace with her second coming 53 minutes.

Fatin Sukri made it 2-0 for Malaysia after 26 minutes and Fazilla Sylvester Silin got the third in the 35th minute. Indonesia pulled one back through skipper Tiffani Makharti (40th) but two minutes later Siti Rahmah Othamn got her name on the scoresheet to finalise the score at 5-1.
