Martial arts exponent, Thomson Hoe of Penang claimed the first gold medal of the SUKMA Perlis XVII when he prevailed in the men’s kata final held at the Pusat Matrikulasi Perlis this afternoon.
“It sure feels great to deliver Penang’s first gold,” said the delighted 21-year-old Thomson.
Johor’s Chun Jet San took the silver. The kata gold today is the first of seven gold medals on offer in the karate-do event which started today. A further six gold medals are up for grabs in the canoeing event which is being held at the Tasik Timah Tasoh.
