# JDT still winless after 1-1 draw with Perak at Larkin Stadium

Selangor Premier League club PKNS FC are back in contention for a place in the Malaysia Cup quarter-finals after a 1-0 win over Super League outfit Police in a Group C match played at the Hang Jebat Stadium in Malacca on Wednesday.

In another Group C match played at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahru – the home of the Southern Tigers – star-studded Johor Darul Takzim, the reigning Malaysian Super League champions were held to a 1-1 draw by Perak.

The stalemate at Larkin left JDT without a win after four matches with only three points and face an early exit from the Malaysia Cup. JDT are at the bottom of the group with Perak on top with seven points – the same as Police but separated by goal difference.

PKNS got their winner through former Negri Sembilan player Shahurain Abu Samah on 27 minutes. The win threw PKNS a lifeline for a top two finish and a place in the knockout stage.

Perak shocked JDT as early as the third minute when their Uzbek player Oybek Kilichev’s stunning freekick from 30 minutes left JDT goalkeeper Farizal Marlias stunned as the ball sailed into the net.

The Southern Tigers drew level in the 16th minute via a penalty when Perak’s Thiago Junior was hauled up for hands inside the box.

JDT skipper Safiq Rahim made no mistake from the spot to beat Perak goalkeeper Hafizul Hakim.
