9th ASEAN Para Games 2017 - RIMAU MaskotDEFENDING champions Myanmar have brushed off any form of opposition from host Malaysia in the men’s Para Sitting Volleyball competition which begins Monday (Sept 18) at the Malaysian International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).

“We have come through a long way in our preparation for KL2017 after winning gold medals in both the men and women competitions in Singapore two years ago,” said Myanmar head coach Batoul Moshrefjavadi.

“Although we respect every opposition, we are determined to overcome it with a gritty performance. Defending the gold medals is never easy but that is what we intend to do and not return home with a silver,” he added.

He added that Malaysia, as host, have home ground advantage but Myanmar will be ready for the challengers ahead. The Malaysian men’s team will play Cambodia on Monday morning (8am) and against Myanmar in the evening (5.30pm).

Thailand will also go into action against Myanmar on Monday (10.30am) and Cambodia (4.0pm).

Malaysian team captain Harman Halion, said: “We are equally prepared to face all the teams and our goal has always been to win the gold medal. We will work hard towards achieving our target.”
