* Uzbek hotshot Farhod Tadjiyev hero for T-Team with a brace
* Sabah held to a 1-1 draw by PKNS at Likas
Uzbek striker Farhod Tadjiyev powered T-Team to the top of the Premier League standings with a brace in his team’s 2-1 win over a gritty DRB-Hicom at Stadium Proton in Tanjung Malim on Friday as closest challengers Sabah were held to a 1-1 draw by Selangor outfit PKNS FC at Kota Kinabalu’s Likas Stadium.
However, the Terengganu outfit’s stay at the top It maybe a short lived joy if Penang defeat Negri Sembilan in Paroi on Sunday. Penang have a game in hand over their rivals and have 14 points from six matches while T-Team have the same number of points from seven matches.
But for now T-Team are savouring the stay at the pinnacle – thanks to a brace from Farhod who found the net in the 41st and 71st minutes. DRB-Hicom got their consolation goal through Arsi Zaidi in injury time.
Sabah failed to capitalise on an early goal through Libyan striker Eamon Zayed (15th) and then fumbled with the scoring opportunities that they created. The homesters were punished when PKNS, coached by E. Elavarasan, stole a precious point when East Timor striker Pedro Henrique fired in the equaliser on 76 minutes.
Azuan Zain was left a hppay man as his UiTM FC continued to steady progress and moved into fourth place in the 12-team Premier League with a 3-2 win over Kuantan FA at Stadium UiTMC in Shah Alam.
UiTM rode on a brace by Dao Bakary (39th and 72nd penalty) and Abdi Kassim (15th min). Kuantan, the FAM League champions last year, then took their pedal off the gas and conceded two late goals with Montenegro striker Milan Purovic (84th) and Fabrice Noel (88th, penalty) getting their name into the scoresheet.
Former Malaysian football kingpins Kuala Lumpur edged SPA Putrajaya 1-0 at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya with Kalle Sone getting the all important winner 72nd minute.
