A lone header from Tran Thanh gave Vietnam a hard fought 1-0 win over Thailand in the opening match of the KBZ Bank Under-19 Cup 2016 at the Mandalar Thiri Stadium in Mandalay, Myanmar.
Tran Thanh nodded home the only goal of the game in the 12th minute as both teams were using these matches as part of their preparation for the AFF Under-19 Championship next month.
In the meantime, in the second game of the evening, hosts Myanmar fell to a 4-1 loss to the U18 side of Consodale Sapporo Club from Japan.
Tomorrow, Vietnam will play hosts Myanmar while Thailand take on Consadole Sapporo.
