MBPJ survived a late onslaught by PAUiTM to keep pace with league leaders UiTM in this week’sĀ TNB-QNET-SHL 2016.
Following a firstĀ quarter scoreless draw,Ā MBPJ upped the ante soon after when they broke through inĀ the 18th minute when Mohd ShahrilĀ Nizam was at the right place and time to slam the ball in.
That goalĀ rattled PAUITM and MBPJ was quick to capitalize on that with two quickĀ field goals in the 20th and 22nd minute by Mohd Hafif Elka to give MBPJ a comfortableĀ 3-0 lead going into half time.
PAUITM came back stronger after the break and began finding the spaces in theĀ MBPJ defense led by former national player Baljit Singh.
In the 37thĀ minute, Mohd Ariff Engliman pulled one back for PAUITM with a lovelyĀ reverse stick goal. The goal spurred PAUITM further and six minutes later MohdĀ Suhail Shafferi’s field goal made it 3-2 at the end of the third quarter.
MBPJ welcomed the two minute break and came back in the fourth quarter withĀ renewed confidence as they took control of the game.
In the 50th min,Ā MBPJ’s Mohd Azrul latched on to a cross and slapped it past the PAUITMĀ keeper to kill off any chance of a comeback by PAUITM to secure his teamĀ a well-earned 4-2 win.
