One of Timor Leste’s foremost women’s football clubs, FC Buibere, are setting their sight on domestic dominance before aiming for a slot in the continental stage.

FC Buibere President Frederico Pereira Martin stated that the team is currently second in the Liga Futebol Feminino de Timor-Leste 2025/26, just three points behind the leaders, S’Amuser FC.

After nine matches, FC Buibere have chalked up seven wins, one draw, and one loss.

“Our first target is, of course, to show that we can dominate the domestic league. While the second is to have the chance to play in the AFC Women’s Champions League,” said Martin.

FC Buibere was founded in 2019 and is one of the pioneering women’s football clubs in Timor-Leste.

It has consistently been among the top five clubs in the country over the past five years, having won the 2020 Liga Feto Timor Champions title, the national championship in the club’s inaugural season.

It also lifted the 2020 FFTL Taça De Rosa Muki Bonaparte.

FC Buibere have also contributed several players to the Timor-Leste Women’s National Team, including Nilda Romana and Tasia Duarte Canizio, among others.

“These athletes serve as role models for young girls, inspiring them to pursue sports and educational excellence,” added Martin.

“FC Buibere are not only a football team—it is a movement dedicated to empowering and providing opportunities for women.”

Towards reaching the next level, FC Buibere are currently negotiating with several current women’s football stars from ASEAN to give the squad a boost towards their title ambition.
