# Former SEA Games gold medallist Farkhan stretches his unbeaten streak to four
Malaysia’s only professional boxer Muhammad Farkhan Haron has done it again and stretched his unbeaten run to four when he scored a stunning TKO win in the second round over Marlos “Bone Crusher” Alta in General Santos City in the Province of South Catabato in South Central Mindanao, Philippines on Saturday.
The fight dubbed “Brawl at the Mall-The Homecoming” was held at the Robinson Mall Atrium in the city which is home of world renowned boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, who is also a Philippines lawmaker.
Manny was not there but according to a posting on the Southern Tigers facebook his trainer Buboy Fernandes acted as Farkhan’s cornerman. Renowned coach Freddie Roach was also present to motivate Farkhan.
The Johor-born pro is a former SEA Games gold medallist. He won the gold at the 2009 SEA Games held in Laos.
His TKO win in General Santos City is his second this year. He created history in January this year when he defeated Sheikh Kaseba of the United Arab Emirates on TKO to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) light heavyweight Asia title and in the process became the first Malaysian to win two WBC Asian titles.
The 28-year-old Farkhan won his maiden WBC Silver (cruiserweight) Asia title in Singapore in July last year.
Immediately after winning his bout in General Santos City, Farkhan, dedicated his victory to HRH Brigadier General Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim – the Johor Crown Prince of Johor who is also the Royal Patron of the Johor Boxing Association.
“This win is for Tunku Ismail, my family and for Bangsa Johor,” said Farkhan, who is hailed as a potential world champion. – BY RIZAL ABDULLAH
